SendBlaster bulk email software is perfectly compatible with Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 10: everything is ok if you you are running Vista with its default settings, as it comes “out of the box”, without having changed anything; but if you did change users-related system settings, you may need a little help as Vista permissions system works in a different way from previous editions.
There are two simple alternative requirements which have to be met in order to run SendBlaster on Vista:
- Leave “User Account Control” (UAC) on (this is the default and recommended setting; you can install and run as a Standard User)
or
- If you have UAC off, log-in as an Administrator user
While some “expert” may have suggested that it is better to turn UAC off in order to improve compatibility with older softwares and reduce system alerts, that’s in fact a very bad idea: far from improving compatibility, turning UAC off not only reduces backward compatibility and prevents you from using SendBlaster as a Standard User, but it also poses serious security risks to your system.
Furthermore, when you turn UAC off, Vista’s users privileges are very hard to be configured properly unless you are an expert technician: it is very easy that you run into something which will not only compromise security, but also make your system unstable or even unusable. Unless you are an experienced Vista system administrator, always leave “User Account Control” on.
However, UAC may have been turned off on your system for any reason. Therefore we are providing you with a step-by-step guide to revert your system to its original settings and turn User Account Control on (A. Turning UAC on); or, if you really want to have UAC switched off, we suggest a few steps which will let you complete your installation successfully as an Administrator (B. Logging in as an Administrator).
